Biography
Ha Soo Bin (KR: 하수빈) is a South Korean singer, songwriter, lyricist, music producer, and architectural design manager. She debuted in 1992, her good looks and innocent charm earning her an overwhelmingly positive response from both male and female audiences. Due to a childhood illness that made her unable to attend school regularly, her mother began teaching her at home, introducing classical and pop music to Soobin at a young age in an effort to aid her emotional growth. Soobin composed her first 16-bar 3-belt waltz at the age of 16 and was said to be extraordinarily musically gifted, playing the violin with relative ease despite never having received formal training for it and otherwise having perfect pitch. She grew up as a "literary girl with a relatively deep musical sensitivity".
Her career as a singer began when she met Tommy Page at a commercial modeling gig. Tommy {who allegedly felt a paternal instinct towards Soobin due to her "adolescent schoolgirl" appearance) affectionately named her Lisa after Lisa Marie Presley, as he is said to have resembled Elvis Presley in his youth. and would describe Soobin as "Lisa…my little baby". Tommy encouraged Soobin to pursue a career as a singer, and went on to appear as a producer in her debut album, Lisa in Love. While Soobin's popularity initially grew due to her "cartoonishly delicate" features, her participation in her own music (and that of other artists as listed on her Namuwiki) as a producer, composer, and lyricist allowed her to present herself as a serious artist with an "innate musical sensibility". Her 3rd album, The Persistence Of Memory, is considered to be her most emotional work and is heralded as a masterpiece by Korean listeners.
