Biography

Hamidou, an Algerian artist born as Ahmed Takdjout in the city of Algiers, on November 8, 1966.

Raised in the Mouradia suburb, Hamidou is considered as a multi-talented artist, whose talent was noticed at a young age.

In 1982, he succeeded in joining the group “Elfakhardjia” with whom he performed different kinds of music styles.

In 1985, he performed for the first time on the Radio channel 3 waves, along with the group “Synthesis”. A year later, he released his first album “Serwal Loubia”, which was even more successful than the Albums of the most known artists at that time.

One of his video clips encouraged the movie producers to offer him a role in the film “The passenger”, and also “Marathon Tam”, in 1988.

Meanwhile, he released “Tendmi aalyia”, followed by the video clip “Ana Sghiyar”, which were both successful.

In 1989, he performed successfully in Milano, and also in 1992 at the Arab institute of Paris.

In 1995, he made up his mind to reside in Paris officially and for good.

Hamidou’s best known single was entitled “Yakalelo”, with the group “Nomad”. The most recognizable award that he received was “the Mozart award”, granted by the UNESCO in the Late 1990’s.
