Harmony Sisters was the first, & all-time most popular, female vocal group, in Finland. They consisted of three sisters: Maila Raija Valtonen (soprano, 1918-97), Vera Valtonen (mezzo-soprano, 1914-97) & Elsa Maire Valtonen (contralto, 1916-95).
They began performing in the mid-30s & made their last recording in 1956. They were also well-known in Sweden & Germany (aka Geschwister Valtonen) - plus, toured Europe widely. Raija & Maire also had extensive solo careers, in the 40s & 50s.
