Homer King Music

Homer King was born in Oklahoma City, OK. on October 4th, 1983. He and his family moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley and settled in McAllen, TX. A place where they would eventually call home.

Homer King comes from a family of six, his parents Homer Jr & Isabel, his sisters Kari Lizbeth & Sara Kaye, and his younger brother, David Benjamin. Growing up, King's father was a minister and a musician at their local church, where Homer would off and on pick up his father's guitar and sing in front of the mic and perform for his family. During this period, King really didn't have a passion for one specific instrument; he would play the piano, drums, bass guitar, and acoustic/electric guitar. At age 14, King finally discovered his true passion, the six string acoustic guitar. From there on, playing the guitar was equivalent to breathing. His father, Homer Jr. was another reason why King decided to start playing the acoustic guitar. He would encourage his son to play as much as possible and not to give up on his passion. King would attend band practice and observe everyone on stage which eventually inspired him to play with a local church band where he met his good friends, drummer, David Lopez and bass guitarist, Sam Watts. David Lopez, Sam Watts, and Homer King became inseparable. They would often meet at church after school and play for hours as if they were playing for a crowd. Even now, their friendship is something that they cherish, and because of that, they continue to be friends and encourage one another to pursue their passion in music.

King's passion for playing, composing, and singing grew everyday but he knew that there were other goals that he wanted to accomplish before starting his music career. After high school, friends and family pushed him to perform and sing but he wasn't ready to showcase his talent just yet. Soon thereafter, King attended the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, TX. where he struggled to find himself. He attended classes and on his days off, he would perform at local coffee shop's where he would gather with friends and play for coffee connoisseurs.

King graduated from The University of Texas-Pan American with his Bachelor's Degree and currently lives in Edinburg, TX. He is now enrolled in Graduate school pursuing his Master's Degree. Homer King is currently working on his first album "underneath" that is set to release June 4th, 2011. The idea of finishing his first album and showcasing it, is a big accomplishment for King, family, and friends that believed and encouraged him. "Underneath," is something that naturally happened during his college career. The opportunity presented itself and King decided that it was time. Now that the album "underneath" has evolved, Homer King and his team are working fervently on last minute details before the big release date.
