Biography
Alexis Gelinet and Jean-Christophe Villain are Hotel 74. Behind this mysterious moniker, the duo is more in the post-rock atmosphere and the most literate shoegaze environments ooze from their first album, the amazing 'Rooms'.
Some are already talking about David Lynch's universe while others find kinship with the Scandinavians of Sigur Rós or Cocteau Twins… Recorded in their home studio, mixed by Ivan Herceg (Lilly Wood & The Prick, Mademoiselle K ) and mastered by Raphael Jonin (Daho, Truffaz), 'Rooms' is both pop and instrumental sounds and sometimes synthetic, sometimes acoustic. Fans of Boards Of Canada, Mogwai, Angelo Badalamenti or even Slowdive will find a lot to like here.
They recorded the album in their own home studio in summer 2008 to summer 2010. Each track title is a play of their imaginary hotel. And it's brilliant, that's all.
And finally convince you it's as if Brian Eno had the last David Lynch soundtrack.
