Biography
I.T.S. is a cultural hip-hop group from East Los Angeles consisting of MC Azul, MC/producer Dubious One, and MC/producer darkman. Originally a tagging crew from Boyle Heights, the It Takes Skills krew developed into a hip-hop production and MC outfit in 1993. Themes include cultural/community pride, anti-establishment sentiment, indigenous people's rights, and revolution.
Influenced by the Good Life Cafe/Project Blowed (stylistically) and Aztlan Underground (thematically), I.T.S. transformed hip-hop in the Latin@ Los Angeles communities from the strictly "oldies/cholo/gangsta" style in the early '90's to a more true-school hip-hop laced with pride and culture. This laid the foundation for Xican@/Latin@ hip-hop in Los Angeles today.
I.T.S. has released three albums to date, Smoking Mirrors EP (1995), Walking Under Sun With Moon: The Journey Home (1997), and Living Is To Sleep And Dying Is To Awake (2002).
I.T.S. now records under the MISOL Tribe moniker along with nuAi, Fe, and NoNotUs.
