2 orbreflex: sintec said a very correct thing - "it'd force the media industries to keep hunting for something new to make them money rather than relying on constant reissues of 'classics'". Download portal is exactly this case with an exception that it's much more cheaper for seller to produce and distribute the product. Another note is about download portals. Did you hear about Flashbulb & iTunes conflict? In few words, iTunes started to sell Flashbulbs stuff without musician approval. I always thought, iTunes is a legal portal, but as you can see sometimes there's no profit for musician at all. 2 orbreflex: the last Imminent Starvation release was made 10 years ago, in 1999 (i don't count re-release of __previously released rare tracks__ as digital Archive. One on Ant-Zen in 2008). If Imminent Starvation is the only side-project of Olivier that I like (let's imagine), then it's not active, please don't mix with all other Olivier's outputs & collaborations (i suppose you mean that case). Your fail then. Spend money on what? On cd's that aren't exist anymore except few used ones on eBay? As i already told, this won't feed all men who want listen to this stuff in any case. Think twice, say once. Summarizing, there's nothing insulting in spreading this via torrents.

imminent is still active as far as I'm aware. I feel that you have the concept of copyright a little wrong, it is to recompense artists for their work. This obviously has the effect of encouraging artists to make another album or whatever but it isn't the sole purpose. These people (I include the record label, graphic artists e.t.c. here) worked very hard and invested a lot of time and money into making these releases so is it not right to show some respect and pay them for that work? As regards Mickey Mouse and the Beatles this is a totally different argument. These artists have already made a fortune from their work and as you've pointed out they no longer receive the money from copyright payments anyway. Personally I'd have copyrights last a lot shorter time (20 years tops) apart from anything else it'd force the media industries to keep hunting for something new to make them money rather than relying on constant reissues of 'classics'.

Well, the main idea of all this copyright shit was just to give artists (musicians) an opportunity (in form of money support) for their creativity, to allow them make new stuff. Since Imminent is not active anymore, any money recieved by unlimited mp3/flac/whatever sales won't enjoy us with a new album or ep. Therefore, it has no sense to remind about legal or illegal ways of picking up the music. I'd say, it's similarly senseless as paying for usage of Mickey Mouse character that is over 70 years old, even when it's father already passed away a long ago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Term_Extension_Act). Or same thing regarding Beatles songs (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_owns_copyright_for_Beatles_songs). This tendency is really worrying.
