Biography
Into the Deep was formed may 2007 by Ian Deep (rhythm/vocals) and Mike Otten (drums). It started out as an innocent jam session between two friends but grew out to be something serious. Soon after they decided to form a band they met a bassist named Stephan Gerrits, after talking for a while they asked him to join the band. Stephan accepted. The next week they started rehearsing rock and metal hits of the eighties.
After two months they had their first gig playing at a local youth home. As time went by, the group decided to search for another guitar player. They asked their friend Dennis Carroll to join. After a few tryouts Dennis accepted and became the new lead guitarist.
They played a few gigs and decided it was time to drop the covers and concentrate on writing their own songs. This became the main focus for the band. After a year Stephan decided it was time to leave the band because of creative differences. This left the band without a bassist.
After a few month Bibiche Wiegers joined the band as the new bassist. Unfortunately she didn't have the time or motivation to keep up with the band so she had to make a choice between her education and home or more time for the band, so she chose the first.
This leaves the band in search for a new bass player, yet again.
The band continued writing songs and is scheduled to release their first demo in February 2010.
In January of 2010 the search for a new bass player has ended. After a few try-outs Johan Coenen was accepted as the newest addition to the band. This will make the progress of writing and recording a lot easier.
Into the Deep is famous for their midnight rehearsals. Ian once said “Just go into the studio and make some sound, drink some beer and feel free”. So they did at night when the rest of the world was sleeping.
