Biography
James McWhinney with his brother, Quino, are the lead singers of Big Mountain most famous for their cover version of Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way," which reached the U.S. Top 40 in early 1994, and the UK Top 5 shortly afterwards. Big Mountain's pop-soul-reggae style has earned them the title "The American UB40." This is James first album as a solo artist and the songs were written by Jack Miller. Skillfully produced by the multi-talented Reggie Griffin, the guitarist for the Isley Brothers, with healthy doses of jazzy soul and R&B. Think Marvin Gaye, Maxi Priest and Sting. In the mix are the dynamic duo Sly Dunbar/drums & Robbie Shakespeare/bass; Brian McCree/acoustic bass; Reggie Griffin, Cat Coore; Andy Susuki/Saxes and Jack Miller, Glen Goto, Quack Moore & Nick Manson/keyboards. James and his music is featured in DREADLOCK ROCK, a music documentary to be released in 2011. The DREADLOCK ROCK sound track is available now and features TOOTS & THE MAYTALS, the MIGHTY DIAMONDS, BIG YOUTH, WILLIE NELSON, MARTY DREAD and members of THIRD WORLD and the WAILERS.
