Very good musicians. Unique Bass, brilliant vocals, a keyboarder, who plays in extraodinary ways with synthesizerpatches and Giorgio Moroder, the innovator of alternative discosounds. An explosive mixture!

I too love Duran Duran but their sense of innovation seems paltry when compared to Sylvian & Co. Japan is one of those rare bands that shapeshifted different genres successfully and experimented with weird and wonderful sounds. I think DD was too widely received off the bat to be able to do that.

I love both Japan and Duran Duran, they are both really important to me in my life, especially DD, as there is a long story about how my sister got married and had kids in a virtual world where DD hang out lol!! But for me, Japan are the pinnacle of the best era of music IMO :-)

Wow, Mick Karn has a unique bass guitar sound. Originally, Life in Tokyo was a non-album single. I think that they included this song as a bonus track in the CD version. And I think this is a different edit.
