Biography
Jens Lodén
Jens Lodén is a very versatile and talented musician: Bass player, producer, and composer. Jens experience is wide and versatile ranging from jazz collaborations to laying minimalistic arrangements on Arabian music as part of a string quartet. He also engaged in TV and Radio music for a number of programs in Swedish national media highlighted with his 2001 Swedish Grammy Award nomination for his remix album on one of Sweden’s finest contemporary jazz profiles - saxophone player Per “Texas” Johansson.
Since the early nineties his fascination and love for techno has constantly developed, as a more abstract zone, free from work, words, opinions, solos, musicians and so on. Until very recently he only experienced this as a listener, but recently he crossed the line and became a producer.
Influenced by reading Igor Stravinskij´s ideas on repetition versus variation, listening to Arvo Pärt, The Orb and new techno from Contexterrior, Jens started making his own brew. His first tracks were immediately recognized by Mikael Stavöstrand of Sunset Diskos/Mitek who included the track “Ju inte” on the Mitek compilation “Do you copy?”, and by Håkan Lidbo and Andreas Tilliander who made a feature on him in their radio program “Ström” on Swedish national radio. They praised him there and also broadcasted his exclusive remix on the theme of the program.
Sunset Diskos will release Jens Lodén’s “UTAN EP” in February 2007.
In September the Swedish label Ajabu released his first solo full length album “Automatismism”, which also deals with the balance between repetition and variation. Not in terms of pure techno though, but in a broader groovy, deep and repetitive electro-acoustic style, including some new collaborations with Per “Texas” Johansson.
