Cannot believe this album is twenty years old today. The one that started it all. A masterpiece. *harp outro to “Sprout and the Bean” plays*

Overall Divers is my favorite album of hers, always fascinated with the amount of attention and care put into the arrangements for each song on that album. But I also love the straightforward solo harp or keyboard songs from this album (and Walnut Whales and Yarn & Glue too), with all the spaces left for echoes/silence.

I revisited this album so much last year, it's definitely underrated in such a stacked discography. Very charming and endearing! Weirdly enough, this would be my introduction to Joanna to other people.

I wish she could've made just one more album like this. The music's so unique and her voice is so damn cute. I like her more classic style, but not nearly as much. Sigh... <3

There's a certain youthful vigor and playfulness about this album that you don't find as much on her later stuff. It's so easily overlooked in the shadow of behemoths like Ys and Have One On Me, but undoubtedly among her best songwriting.

One of my best finds from a charity shop, no idea why someone would want to get rid of though. Her voice is so powerful, I love it.

This was the very first Joanna song I heard. It's now in my top ten of all-time. She's a revelation.

It may sound like she's catterwalling (or is it catterwailing?), but she does it oh so beautifully. Her eerie childlike voice pierces you to the bones and causes you to shiver with joy.

some kind of beautiful pixie/human hybrid, floating from forest to field with a flutter, pushed up by the wind of an old blind man blowing a breeze from the top of a hill and down down down
