Biography

Joanna Teters is carving a place for herself in the hearts and minds of today’s music lovers with original, forward-thinking, new school soul music. Increasingly recognized for her ability to switch effortlessly from lush, deeply sultry tones to rugged reggae and blues, Teters serves audiences with playful and energetic yet poised performances of both original compositions and covers. After many formative years in the mountains of upstate New York, she then went on to pursue her degree at Berklee College of Music where she began to develop her craft as a bandleader, songwriter, and front woman (Mad Satta, Drew ofthe Drew, and SUNDUB).

In 2018, with her bassist/producer CARRTOONS, Teters released “Warmer When It Rains,” her highly anticipated solo debut. “Warmer” was followed closely by the release of the hip-hop/soul influenced EP “Back To Brooklyn."

Collaborations abound for Teters but her own singles “Recall” and “Fine Line” showcase Joanna’s topline writing and vocal prowess. She’s also working on her first full length original reggae album with her band SUNDUB, with whom she recorded a heralded cover of Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.”

Although national and international tours have kept her traveling in the last, when she’s home she’s found sharing the stage with notable artists like Emily King, Jacob Collier, Thundercat, and Moonchild, among others.

Joanna’s home is in Brooklyn.
