John Fernandez

John Arnold Fernandez (born September 14, 1960) is a Christian songwriter from Conroe, Texas, United States. Fernandez is a multi-instrumentalist with a contemporary country pop sound. He is an Associate Pastor at The Ark Church in Conroe and has served there since 1997. He is married to Tamara (Hestilow) Fernandez of Conroe. They adopted their first child, a baby girl in March of 2011. John is one of seven children born to Robert and Patricia Fernandez of Baton Rouge, LA. He also has a step son Nicolas Layne Goynes he raised for 10 years. PFC Goynes is now serving his country as a US Marine after graduating in 2009.

John began playing guitar at age 15 and joined the local Catholic Church St. George in Baton Rouge, LA. On the same altar he ministered on week after week he became a Christian and was born again one Sunday morning while singing the song Amazing Grace in 1982. He said that was the day he began his walk with God. The day God opened his eyes and entered his heart. The born again reference can be found in the gospel of John chapter 3.

Fernandez discovered his love for music in his teens and joined Tara High School Band in Baton Rouge. Playing Tuba in the band led John to auditioning for a position on the Louisiana State University's "Golden Band from Tiger Land", in 1978-79. It was during college that John learned how much he loved music and became a Multi-instrumentalist going on to play piano, bass, pedal steel and classical guitar as well as drums.

After graduating from Minister's Training Institute in 1986 he studied Spanish in Monterrey and was a missionary there for three years traveling throughout the country playing, singing and ministering to the beautiful people of Mexico. Upon returning to the United States in the early 1990's he ministered in numerous churches as a musician and worship leader.

One of John's loves in life is making music. The song writing, composing the music, recording and birthing of a song for his creator gives John no greater satisfaction. The song "One" is a wonderful example of John's love and heart for God. Stuff happens. Let God be your, "Upside Of Down"
