And Then There Were None - Original Broadway Cast Recording/2006

Wiki

With the stress Moritz receives from school, he then discovers he fails his exam, too. Instead of being comforted by his parents, they’re worried about the embarrassment they’ll have to go through from the town members about having a “dumb and inept son,” who couldn’t advance to the next grade. Moritz writes to Frau Gabor, Melchior’s mother and Moritz’s only adult friend, asking for money to flee to America. She denied Moritz’s request for money with affection. Frau tries helping by saying she’ll write to his parents, but even Moritz knows Frau expected more from him, and writing to his parents won’t help at all. He sadly accepts his role as the “dumb and inept son.” Finally, Frau mistakenly doesn’t take Moritz’s threat of suicide seriously and is concluded with Moritz left with no option but to contemplate suicide, saying, “and then there were none,” in reference to no longer having to deal with these utter sh*t days any longer.
