Biography
Started in the mid 70's singing and playing guitar in a band called "The Spires" playing gigs in and around the sleepy market town of Louth in Lincolnshire UK as well as a one off gig at the world famous "Marquee Club" in London's Wardour Street.
Had a recording deal in the early 80's with my band still life80s. About 6 weeks worth of Radio 1 airplay for our 1st single, a full band arrangement of 'Away From This Town', and a short tour supporting Culture Club as well as a great number of other gigs didn't result in stardom. NME got it about right when they described us as "too ugly to be Cajagoogoo".
The rest of the 80's saw a move to London, continued song writing with my partner in crime Ian Campbell and a short time giging around the capital with my new band "Orange" Imagine my surprise when I saw an advertising hoarding at the bottom of Holloway Road proclaiming "The future's bright, the future's Orange" (mobile phones the size of a brick had just arrived!!!!).
A move back to Lincolnshire in the early 90's saw me playing in various cover bands, meeting my Wife Jill, her son Jack as well as her animals, currently a horse, donkey, two dogs and a cat. Soon after our son Jay arrived and we live the "good life" in the small village of Belchford. A move into teaching ensued and I now have the pleasure of sharing my passion for music with about 150 guitar pupils in various local schools as well as lecturing in Vocals and Music Tech at a local music college. I still play in a covers band with some great musicians, surprising who finds there way up here.
Have no desire to "make it" as a musician any longer but liked the idea someone somewhere may stumble across some of my songs and enjoy them, hence this page.
