Born to a concert pianist and artist, Justin Burnett began studying music at the age of 8. He played in over 15 symphonic ensembles over 12 years. Although early on, it was clear that music composition would be his first love, Justin had a strong passion for learning and playing many musical instruments. During his college years this desire and talent turned into an added passion for electronic music. Justin performed in several electronic bands during this time. In 1995 he moved to Los Angeles where he met composer Hans Zimmer and was asked to become his assistant. Over the course of 5 years he would be mentored by Zimmer, assisting and composing for films such as The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, The Thin Red Line and Gladiator. It was also during this time that Justin began his solo film composing career with the films, Possums, Dungeons and Dragons and the German TV show Cops 2000. In the fall of 2000 Justin changed course and struck out to discover his own voice in music. Joining the commercial music house Musikvergnuegen, he was able to develop a prolific skill in music composition at the same time as beginning a creative partnership with Harry Gregson-Williams. Justin and Harry continue to work together today on many films and video games. In 2005 Justin left Musikvergnuegen to pursue his feature career in depth. He has been working constantly ever since.
