Biography
Catherine Quinol was born in the late 60s in the town of Corbeil, near Paris, France.
Her mum and dad were both born in Guadeloupe in the French West Indies, and her astrological sign is Capricorn.
As a kid, she starts listening DONNA SUMMER, ARETHA FRANKLIN, JAMES BROWN and PRINCE songs. She falls in love with Soul, Blues, Rock, Disco, and imagine choreographies with her sister and friends. They do shows at home at the beginning, they go performing in nightclubs a few years later.
She becomes a model and get a nice job opportunity in Italy. She moves over there and takes the nickname KATRIN. She does shootings and catwalks during the week and perform on weekends in a nightclub as a go-go dancer and sings over the songs played by the dee-jay.
1989 : Sauro Malavasi, the bassist of the Italian Superstar SPAGNA, notices her in the club. He introduces her to his friends Daniele Davoli aka DJ LELEWEL, Mirko Limoni and Valerio Semplici. They have just finished a Piano House track project called BLACK BOX "Ride On Time", and look for someone to embody it.
They find that her caribbean beauty, energy and experience as a club performer perfectly fit.
Katrin plays the game and soon "Ride On Time" jumps into the charts worldwide. Top 5 in many countries, top position in the UK ("Ride On Time" is the best-selling single of the year 1989 in the UK)
The BLACK BOX tornado is moving across the planet, fed by several Mega Hits : "Strike It Up" and "Everybody Everybody" hit #1 on the Billboard Dance (USA), the cover of the band EARTH, WIND & FIRE "Fantasy" hits #3 in Australia.
The debut album "Dreamland" is certified Gold in France, UK, USA, and Double Platinum in Australia and Canada.
Katrin is all over the place, travels the world, embody the BLACK BOX project with charism and energy. She's on stage, in the videos, on the record covers, does press interviews, TVs… for the 7 singles taken from the album "Dreamland", and more :

But in 1992, a dramatic accident forces her to stop the adventure for a while, and her producers hire the singer Charvoni to record and promote the second album.
Katrin remains the muse, the face of the most successful period of BLACK BOX.
With the permission of her former producers, she still performs the hits of "Dreamland" and meets her fans around the world.
Her image is regularly used for cover reeditions, Best Of and other BLACK BOX compilations.
She's now working on a Pop, Deep and House album with Fabien Scarlakens aka DJ ESTEBAN (Boy George, Desireless, Daddy Dj…). Their first single "Apprivoiser Nos Désirs" (Airplay Records / Universal) is gonna be released in May under her name KATRIN QUINOL.
