Literally one of the greatest songs of all time, the atmospheric and somber opening comes to a still with a slow build up of octaves and dissonant notes creating an uneasy feeling which then builds up into a jazz fusion eruption with incredible musicianship and jaw dropping harmonies. The songs ending is one of the best, going back to that original theme that was stated in the beginning of the song, this motif gets me every time, the song will put you in a state of being spaced out and it is sublime.

Already listened to this song 3 times before and I was speechless on every listen, relistened to it again today and Im still speechless! Every listen felt like I’m experiencing it for the first time. The entire song is perfect but 10:22 is one of my fav musical experience ever!

No just an apt comparison, in my mind anyway. People talk about the last couple minutes being “apocalyptic”, and it just came to mind. And both are perfect, again in my estimation.

Within those twelve minutes, "Starless" creates a vast musical canvas where instrumental solos, intricate arrangements, and thematic development come to life. The song offers ample space for each musician to showcase their talents, with mesmerizing solos and interplay that leaves me in awe. As the music progresses, I find myself getting lost in its hypnotic rhythms and evolving melodies. The song builds and releases tension, taking me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The gradual development of themes and motifs adds a sense of anticipation and fulfillment as each section seamlessly transitions into the next. This extended journey through "Starless" allows me to immerse myself fully in the music, exploring its nuances and feeling its impact on a deeper level. It's a testament to the band's skill and creativity that they can craft such a captivating and epic piece of music that keeps me engaged throughout its entire duration. "Starless" is a true masterpiece!

In surround sound if you have the equipment. The whole Red album is a high water mark of spatial audio, Steven Wilson created an amazing mix.
