Korkkijalka is one of the most famous finnish bands playing irish music. It was founded as Shandrum in 1982. In the year 1984 the band, led by Kari Reiman, performed in Helsinki in the play Richard's Corkleg by Brendan Bahan. Hi-Hat -record company wanted to publish the music of the play, but demanded that the name of the band be changed into something in the finnish language. Soon afterwards Harry Bent, an architecture-student from Dublin, joined the band as their new singer.
The band has published three albums. It has had for example Petri Hakala and Kurt Lindblad as its members. It has also had something to do with Pertti Neumann.The band broke up in about the year 1989.
