- Mark Alban Lotz
Lotz of Music is a creative vehicle for flutist, improvisor, composer Mark Alban Lotz.
Born June 12 1963; Grew up in Thailand, Uganda and Germany. Started playing the flute at seventeen and ended up studying both jazz as well as classical/ contemporary music at the Amsterdam 'School of Arts', received private tuition in the US. Study of Indian Bansuri flute/music at Codarts. Released 15 CD's as a leader/co-leader at German, French, Dutch, Turkisch and US labels.
Worked/recorded with musicians from all over the globe. Literally from A(rmenia) to Z(ambia). A.o. Chris Potter, Don Byron, Miguel 'Anga' Diaz, Najma Akthar, Petar Ralchev, Namgyal Llhamo, David Tronzo, Zuco 103, Michael Moore, Eddy Martinez, Mola Sylla, Wolter Wierbos, Jason Robarts, Michael Vatcher, Martha Gallarraga, Denise Jannah, Ernst Reijseger, Luc Houtkamp, Han Bennink, Ramon Valle, Kamil Erdem, Raj Mohan, Michiel Borstlap, Sandhya Sanjana, Nicky Marrero, soloists and members of the Conjunto Folklorico National De Cuba, Yoruba Anabo, Raices and Clavé y Guaguanco, Amelia Pedroso, Estrella Acosta, Alan Laurillard, Sandip Battacharya, José Pilar Suarez, David Haney, Mathew Ostrowski, Bo Widget, Korhan Erel, Umut Caglar, Omar Ka, Anatol Steffanet, etc. As a leader/co-leader he is featured on CDs with the ensembles "Lotz Of Music", the duo "T(w)o-do", "Shango's Dance", "Global Village Orchestra", "Mark Lotz Meets Omar Ka, A Fula's Call", "Lotz/Kneer" and the "Mark Lotz Quartet"
