Luminous Orange (ルミナスオレンジ) is a Japanese indie rock band formed in Yokohama in 1992 by Rie Takeuchi. Inspired by artists such as Pale Saints, My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth, Luminous Orange also incorporates some electronic influences in their music. Although Takeuchi is the solo remaining original member of the band, various influential musicians have collaborated with the band, such as Number Girl drummer Ahito Inazawa, Kobayashi Ai of toddle, and Ian Masters of Pale Saints.
Luminous Orange has released 6 albums, 1 mini album, 1 maxi-single & 7inch from various labels (include Cornelius' Trattoria and Ian Masters' Friendly Science Enregisterments in the UK). Luminous Orange has performed overseas at the South by Southwest music festival in Texas, and the band has enjoyed critical acclaim from shibuya-kei/shinjuku-alternative/shoegaze-electronica folks from around the world.
