Biography
Moon Bin (Korean: 문빈; born January 26, 1998) also commonly referred to by Moonbin, was a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor under Fantagio. He was a member of the South Korean boy group ASTRO and the group’s sub-unit MOONBIN & SANHA.
Prior to his career as a pop idol, he worked as a child actor and model, making his first known appearance in 2006 in TVXQ’s ’Balloons’ music video, portraying a young U-KNOW YUNHO. In 2009, he landed his first acting role in the Korean drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’, playing the younger version of Kim Bum's character.
Moonbin became a trainee at Fantagio in fifth grade and joined the company's boy group project iTeen. He was introduced as the second trainee with the Fantagio iTeen Photo Test Cut.
He debuted as a member of ASTRO on February 23, 2016, with the release of their debut EP, ’Spring Up’, with the lead single ’Hide & Seek’.
In November 2019, due to health issues, Moonbin was absent from ASTRO’s promotions for their EP ’BLUE FLAME’. He returned to activities in February 2020 and was named as one of the new hosts of the music show Show Champion alongside his bandmate Sanha and VERIVERY’s Kangmin.
Moonbin and Sanha later formed ASTRO’s first sub-unit MOONBIN & SANHA, releasing their debut EP ’IN-OUT’ on September 14, 2020. The unit's lead single, ’Bad Idea’, earned them their first music show win from The Show eight days later.
On December 30, 2022, Fantagio announced that Moonbin had renewed his contract with the agency.
On April 19, 2023, Moonbin passed away in his Gangnam home at the age of 25.
