Marco Paulo (Mourão, Portugal, 21st January, 1945 - Sintra, Portugal, 24th October 2024), stage name of João Simão da Silva, was a Portuguese romantic singer with career that spanned 58 years, mostly done by national versions of international hit songs. He was basically the king of Schlager music in Portugal (his music was not considered Pimba music, though). With sales of over 5 million copies in Portugal, he is one of the best-selling musical artists in Portugal ever.

Marco Paulo was one of the most popular singers in post-Carnation Revolution period in Portugal, specially during the late 1970s, the 1980s and the 1990s. He was born in Mourão, in the southern rural region of Alentejo, but his family moved to Barreiro, near Lisbon, where he started to sing at some wedding parties and festivals. After that, he joined the army and spent two years in the Portuguese Colonial War. Back to Portugal, one of his friends, Mário Martins presented the song "Eu Tenho Dois Amores" for Marco to sing. Inicially he wasn't to satisfied with the song, but it becamed one of his greatest hits of all times.
He also presented TV shows in the 1990s and the 2020s.

In 2007 he launched his first album only featuring original songs. The arranjments and production were made by the producer Ramón Gallarza.

Marco Paulo died on October 24th, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was 79 years old.
