Marine Research was a British indie rock band that was founded in 1997 as a continuation of the band Heavenly. The band consisted ofAmelia Fletcher (vocals), Cathy Rogers (vocals/keyboards), Rob Pursey (bass), Peter Momtchiloff (guitar), and John Stanley (aka DJ Downfall). Aside from Stanley, all the members had been part of Heavenly, which had disbanded in 1996 after the death of drummer Matthew Flechter. Amelia Fletcher, Pursey, and Momtchiloff had also been members of Talulah Gosh.
Marine Research released one album, "sounds from the gulf stream", and an EP, "Parallel Horizontal ", both in 1999. The band disbanded later that year. Fletcher and Pursey later formed Tender Trap and The Caternary Wires, while Momtchiloff formed The Would-Be-Goods.
