Biography
Matchbox Messiah formed in early 2006, under the name "In Darkness Waits". After recording several demos that were never widely released, Casey changed his "band" name to Matchbox Messiah in early 2007.
The "band" went through a few musical stylings, (hard rock, soft rock, shoegaze, experimental) until settling on what it is now; a mix of the quirky Regina Spektor and a broodier Amanda Palmer.
Recording a handful of "demo albums" - all under the name of "In Darkness Waits", Casey had hoped to gain some recognition on the internet, not succeeding in the least, Casey started from scratch (almost). Taking a handful of songs with him, Casey killed of In Darkness Waits and started "Matchbox Messiah".
Since then, Casey has self-released one album and one EP (which you can download on the band's official site www.freewebs.com/matchboxmessiah) and is currently working on a second album and demo.
Casey plays piano, acoustic and electric guitar, sings, writes, and composes. He has also been described as a pissed-off Regina Spektor.
