Biography
With their "snappy funk pop," Matt Germak Band have become a vibrant part of the Boston area live music scene of late. Fans rave about their exciting live performances and catchy original pop/rock songs, reminiscent of Coldplay, Gavin DeGraw, Counting Crows, Ben Folds Five, and Billy Joel. The band's insightful lyrics, crafty hooks, and rock, funk, and jazz influences leave you wanting to hear more.
Formed in Boston, MA in 2003 while Matt Germak was attending Berklee, the band went on hiatus while Matt settled into working life after leaving school. Finally, in the spring of 2004, with Jeff Byrnes on bass and Jon Kielson on drums, the Matt Germak Band got things going again.
After Jon's departure in early 2006 to pursue his music engineering career, Jeff's friends Joe Koubek and Matt Sorensen stepped in briefly on guitar and drums. Alas, they had other focuses and left after a new drummer was found in Jonnie Wiegratz.
As a sidenote, Matt is not the only musical person in his family; his brother Andy Germak pursues his craft in NYC. Check his music out!
