Biography
You might know Mayka as one-half of Stockholm, Sweden's dayglow electro-pop-rap duo Death Team who first shot to attention with the rampaging anthem ‘Fucking Bitches In The Hood’. Described by The Guardian as “the missing link between Abba and Eminem”, their fans included Charli XCX and Perez Hilton, while their Kanye West-referencing hit ‘Gold’ fired to #10 in Spotify’s Global Viral 50.
Mayka’s career started in the EDM-scene. She relocated from small-town Sweden to the bright lights of Sthlm and hustled relentlessly to land gigs and attempt to build up a network within the music industry. She travelled the world so she could define herself as an international DJ, playing her first show at a warehouse party in LA before heading to New York, Bali and India.
She soon became obsessively dedicated to learning everything she could about production, mixing and Dj:ing. In 2012 she started to release electronic music and opened for an eclectic array of international artists including Breakbot, Cashmere Cat and The Magician. She also ran her own monthly DJ-show in Swedish Radio P3, being called “a pioneer in the fields of electro, dubstep and future bass”. After working several years as a DJ/producer she shifted focus to songwriting and singing. She teamed up with Johan Till and formed Death Team.
Now she's back with her solo project. Whilst keeping the playfulness and raw energy of Death Team, she's experimenting with different electronic genres such as trap and future bass.
