Biography
Melanie Gabriel (born 1976) is the second daughter of recording artist Peter Gabriel. After studying photography and painting, Melanie recently began to pursue a musical career, collaborating with artists such as Joy Askew and French producer Hector Zazou (on the song "Mmmh" from Zazou's album Strong Currents) in addition to writing her own material. In 1999, she co-wrote the song "Broken Line" for the album Refuge: A benefit for the people of Kosovo.
Melanie has recently embarked on an ambitious musical journey, "Taïga Maya", with the expert help of Belgian producer/composer Thierry Van Roy. They premiered their show at WOMAD, on November 11, 2006, in Las Palmas (Canary Islands).
Melanie was allegedly the inspiration for Peter Gabriel's song "Come Talk To Me", featured on his 1992 album Us, after a block in communication arose between her father and herself.
