To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Mike Love. The music is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of transcendental meditation, most of the lyrics will go over a typical listeners head. There's also Mike's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these melodies, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Mike Love truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mike's existential catchphrase "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN-" which itself is a cryptic reference to being in high school.

I saw Mike Love at a grocery store in Kokomo yesterday. I told him how crazy it was to meet such an asshole in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to

I don't see "Summer of Love" in the top 10. It's the second best rap song from members of Beach Boys.

"Mike Love, Not War" - Depends, if the war is fought using swords (with no bombs used) then I'd actually prefer it over Mike Love.

Mike Love needs to realise that wearing a stupid fucking baseball cap all the time doesn't hide the fact that he's bald. He also just needs to stop being a pleb really.

Shame Mike was too afraid to leave his comfort zone, imagine how much more the group would of grown artistically if Mike just let Brian so his own shit. The Beach Boys wouldn't be the husk they are today if Smile was completed and released.

it’s not about artistic comfort zones, it’s about being a sociopathic capitalist who doesn’t mind exploiting or abusing even his own family if it makes him a buck. mike love is the elon musk of music

Just heard he fired Brian Wilson, Al Jardine en David Marks from a reunion tour replacing them with session musicians. What gives? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2208817/Youre-fired-Three-Beach-Boys-founding-members-dumped-bands-frontman-Mike-Love.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

"Would it be a stretch to say that if it wasn't for this artless cock-knocker, Smile would have been finished when it was supposed to be and Brian would (maybe) still be sane?" Yes, it would be.
