Someday, this will be recognized for the masterpiece that it is. Until then, at least some of us realize its greatness. Ethereal and peaceful at times, funky and throbbing at others, haunting and lyrical at still others; Miles's first record with a big band in more than 20 years, brilliantly composed and arranged by Palle Mikkelborg, with Miles in very fine form with some very painterly playing. A masterpiece that is every bit as good as the more widely praised stuff from earlier in his career.

I really like this CD too. And yes, @dimaensionx I'm glad that electric drum sound didn't survive the 80s! I loved John McLaughlin in this though.

This is one of my all-time favorite albums. What a great variety of the many different styles of the master himself. Except for the kind-of cheesy electric drums and McLaughlin's slightly out-of-tune solos, this is a classic!!

This sure is an interesting album when you compare it to albums like Bitches Brew and Kind of Blue.
