With their second album “verletzt” (injured) the Austrians from Mills perform an impressive transformation without renouncing their origins. Same as on the album “monochrome” (2017) the songs range in the melancholy dark wave area with a gentle electronic touch.

However, Mills up the ante considerably with regard to production and arrangement and present the new songs in a wonderfully warm and floating, but also very powerful sound which knows how to convince the listener by perfectly attuned dynamics between a minimal orchestration and a heavy wall of guitar sound.

One of the main changes in the concept itself is the use of German lyrics instead of English ones like on the previous album, giving the songs an emotional depth which singer Walter Glatz conveys in a remarkable way. Mills completely go without the usual and meanwhile quite worn out dark pop / rock single patterns and focus on atmosphere and the hypnotic symbiosis between sound patterns and lyrics whose topics and stories get under your skin.

Mills succeed in presenting a coherent piece of work with twelve tracks in which you can lose yourself quite literally.
