Biography

Minacelentano is a collaborative project composed of Italian singer/songwriters Mina Anna Mazzini and Adriano Celentano. The collaboration first came about with the duo’s eponymous release in 1998; the work was born out of a long-standing rapport and unwavering friendship between the pair. The record was Celentano’s first foray into the world of mainstream pop, a main departure from his familiar world of rock & roll. The record was a success, selling over a million copies. The album was commended for its resonant collection of warm love songs, and the impeccable vocal talents of both artists, and was later revised and re-released in both a special Christmas edition and 1999 Summer Edition. Mazzini and Celentano reunited in the studio 18 years later with a second effort, Le Migliori. The album’s title (translated as "the best") is from a birthday message sent from Adriano to Mina in 2015. The record featured 11 original compositions as well as a cover of a Lady Gaga track. Le Migliori was commended for its vast palette of sound and radio-friendly mood, incorporating styles that transcend reggae, blues, and R&B. The album dominated the top of the Italian FIMI Album Charts during the festive period of 2016.
