Minimum Vital is a French band formed in 1983 by brothers Thierry and Jean-Luc Payssan. They mix art-rock influences from YES, the instrumental virtuosity of fusion, influences from medieval and southern European traditional music, and modern innovations. Their first album, Envol Triangles, was released on cassette in 1985. Starting with their second album, 1988's Les Saisons Marines, they moved to Musea. The band split up in 1994, though they reformed later that same year.
The Payssan brothers also record as Vital Duo.
