MiXE1 began as the creative outlet of vocalist and songwriter Mike Evans (X-RL7), who sought to merge the emotional power of alternative rock with the infectious melodies of synth-driven electronic music. The project gained traction with the debut Module 01 EP (2010), followed by standalone single A Spark in the Air (2011), and a second EP, Module 02 (2012).
In late 2012, MiXE1 evolved into a full band when guitarist/bassist Lee Towson and drummer Lee O’Brien (active 2012-2019) joined the project. This collaboration kicked off a new creative era for the trio, beginning with the EP Lights Out (2013), single The Edge (2014), and the debut full-length album Starlit Skin (2014).
The band’s sophomore album Reflections came in 2019, further expanding their fusion of electronic and organic sounds. The album featured guest vocal appearances from an impressive roster of collaborators, including JP Anderson (Rabbit Junk), Roman Marisak (Professional Murder Music), and Natasha Cox (AL1CE, Mankind Is Obsolete, Alice Underground).
MiXE1 have balanced independence with collaboration, signing in their early years to Static Distortion Records while also contributing tracks to three volumes of the Beat:Cancer charity compilation. Their discography showcases a steady evolution: from intimate, synth-driven beginnings to high-energy anthems, with heartfelt lyrics, powerful choruses, and a sound that moves effortlessly between introspection and intensity; this is MiXE1.
New single IDOLS was released in September 2025.
