More than one band uses the name Moraine (1) is a progressive jazz-rock band based in Seattle; (2) is a keyboard-driven rock band based out of central New Jersey.
(1) Moraine joins veteran guitarist Dennis Rea with a crew that includes Kevin Millard (bass), Jay Jaskot (drums) and Alicia DeJoie (previously Allen) (violin). The band initially also featured Ruth Davidson on cello, as heard on their Moonjune debut CD Manifest Density (2009), but has since replaced the cellist with reedman James DeJoie; drums have been handled by Stephen Cavit and later Tom Zgonc and Brian Oppel. Moonjune released their second album, Metamorphic Rock: Live at NEARfest, in October 2011. It features a few tunes reworked from the debut plus a number of new compositions. Their third album, Groudswell, came out in 2014. In addition to NEARfest, the band has played at Seaprog, Baja Prog, and Fesrival AlterNativa.
