Biography
NOVAGANG is an experimental underground music and internet art collective founded in 2018 by prblm. Known for their genre-blending sound and distinct digital aesthetic, NOVAGANG rose to prominence during the early 2020s, particularly amid the surge of hyperpop, digicore, and related online subgenres. Initially gaining a cult following on platforms like SoundCloud and Twitter, the group built its reputation on emotionally raw production, glitch-heavy visuals, and a decentralized, internet-first creative approach.
The collective’s debut mixtape, H.T.N.G. (HASHTAG NOVAGANG), dropped on July 30, 2022, followed by a sequel, H.T.N.G. VOL 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, in August 2023. These projects spotlighted both the collective’s collaborative spirit and their eclectic sound — often weaving together punk, trap, emo, cloud rap, ambient, and digital hardcore influences.
Over time, NOVAGANG became known not just for music, but as a full-fledged cultural movement. Their visual identity — spearheaded in part by prblm — draws from early 2000s internet nostalgia, vaporwave textures, and chaotic collage aesthetics. Their merchandise, including the “I ☠ NG” shirts and hand-knit beanies, combines early Windows-era visuals with contemporary streetwear influences.
According to a 2025 feature in The Tub Mag, the group embraces a multimedia approach that fuses music, fashion, design, and community-building. NOVAGANG continues to maintain a do-it-yourself spirit that has made them an enduring part of the underground. Recently, they also launched an official Telegram channel (https://t.me/novaganghellsingunit) to connect more directly with fans and share exclusive content.
