Biography
Nadezhda (Nadia) Kodes was born on June 28, 1991 in Leningrad, Russia.
Her father had a good taste in music, therefore she grew up listening to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. «John Lennon,» she says, «has always been my idol.»
From an early age Nadia began learning music. When she was 5 years old she started taking piano lessons and at 7 she entered a music school to learn piano and cello. This special education was besides the regular school classes. At 15 Nadia graduated from the music school with an honors degree and two years later she graduated from High School, where she received a gold medal for scoring the highest scores in every subject.
While still in High School, when she was 15, her father died of Lymphoma. At this time she started to party a lot and discovered other activities outside of school: clubs and concerts. Fortunately, this did not last for long, In 2008 Nadia entered St Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts, She started to study English and French, planning for the profession of a Tour Guide. After two years of study she realized this was far from she wanted. «Leaving the University,» Nadia says, «was one of the best decisions in my life. I started working a lot - and I liked it more than studying.» From time to time Nadia would attend various auditions and competitions. «I was absolutely disappointed in show business,» she says. «Producers were interested in my figure rather than my voice and contests were won by those who had more money.»
At the age of 18 Nadia returned to the University, but this time to study vocals. It was during the summer of 2010 that Nadia rediscovered her old dream. «I’d decided to become a famous singer at 14,» Nadia recalls, «There was a time that I almost forgot about it. But then the faith in my dream revived with a new force at 19.» Nadia at this time found some old songs she wrote when she was 13 and they became her revelation: «I’ve always considered myself as a terrible composer, so I was very surprised that the songs were not that bad.» One by one, new songs were composed with her piano. The work on the first album has begun.
