Biography

"If you thought the Aphex Twin had a skewered approach to mixing pop elements with electronic madness, think again. Bizarre, manipulated and wavering vocals, singing what could almost be catchy refrains in a backwards universe, mix with quirky rhythms, analog noises, loops and samples. Funny, absurd, quirky and, above all, stranger than fiction." - Richard di Santo (Incursion)

Neck Doppler first reared his flopping head in 2000
as one half of the experimental/electronica/plundernonsense duo Eye and Ear Control (the other half being The Render General) who, during 2000-2001, released 4 albums on the now defunkt Glasgow based label CONSUME.

Following the temporary dissolution of Eye and Ear Control in 2001, Neck felt compelled to dig deep inside of himself in search of any singular creative impulses that may exist in the gut swirl of inner unsteadiness, and lo and behold, he did in fact discover a maelstrom of chaotic, unexpressed tensions and devices just waiting to be wrenched from the heat. The resulting impulses can be found on his debut solo album 'Future Hits Vol. 1' which was also released by CONSUME (CON 005) in 2001

"The poppy brother of V/VM wickedness" - FdW (Vital)

Following his debutnate albumen he released an ultra ltd EP (27 copies) called 'Neck Doppler Vs. Goldfrapp' in 2002 on which he skillfully re-evaluated the lovely lady's Felt Mountain EP.

The disgusting label Mouthmoth (frun by the notorious Frog Pocket then released a split 7" single with Straight Outta Mongolia on one side and Neck on the other happppily singing the James classic 'Sit Down'.

'Perverse pop for now people' - Ampersand

His final release, in 2004, was on the obscure Russian tape label Monopolka and was a split with The Soviet Sex Machines. Unfortunantely this was suppressed by the Russian government and so hardly any copies of it now exist.

He split up from himself in 2004 and now for some reason inhabits the band The Retrosexuals

"Neck Doppler inhabits a sound world long abandoned by experimentalists seeking a hi-fi paradise, preferring an urgent grubby soundworld more reminiscent of 70's pioneers like Robert Rental and early Cabaret Voltaire- mesmerically upsetting" - Richard Sanderson (Resonance)
