Biography

“New Bone” is an acoustic jazz quintet which was established in 1996, by students at the Krakow Academy of Music. The group made its debut that same year, appearing at Krakow's “Miles Davis Memorial Night” jazz trumpeters' festival with a line-up that included: Tomasz Kudyk - trumpet, Marcin Ślusarczyk - alto sax, Łukasz Hodor - trombone, Piotr Wyleżoł - piano, Robert Kubiszyn – bass, and Tomasz Grochot – drums.

Over the next several years the group underwent changes in line-up and played sporadically. Studies, work with other groups, and various other activities put further development of the group onto the back burner. And so it was until 2004, when New Bone recorded their first CD, “Something For Now”. This was somewhat of a breakthrough moment in the band's history, as the album was warmly received by both the public and the critics.

The appearance of the group's first CD resulted in numerous concert engagements in the most important venues of the Polish jazz scene and festival invitations. From that point on, the group has been performing regularly, developing its musical sensitivity and creativity primarily before live audiences. The musical program the band presents is one made up of original pieces, based on the innovations of the world's Jazz Giants, from the period when the likes of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and John Coltrane were creating their respective legends.

In January, 2009, New Bone enters the studio again, to record the album 'It's Not Easy', which is to some extent a continuation of their debut album 'Something For Now', but at the same time introduces some new perspectives in terms of harmony, melodics and group interaction.
