Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen

Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen or Ky Duyen was born on June 30 to one of the most flamboyant Vietnamese leaders of the 1960's, general/vice president Nguyen Cao Ky. Ky Duyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but grew up in the United States. Her family first settled in Fairfax, Virginia, then moved to Huntington Beach California where she attended Marina High School. Today, Ky Duyen makes her home in Orange County.

While growing up, Ky Duyen has had her stint in many professions. In her late teens, she had her own photo studio dedicated to photographing fashion layouts. Through her connections with many of the models, she was often asked to introduce them on various fashion shows in Southern California. In many ways, this was her introduction to the world of show business and being the master of ceremony (MC). Her first debut as a MC was at Long Beach's Hoa Hau Ao Dai show. As suggested by her name, Ky Duyen's charm, her command of the one-liners, and her stage presence was noticed by many people in the Vietnamese Entertainment industry. Ky Duyen became famous through her many appearances in the Thuy Nga Paris videos.

Ky Duyen is a multi-talented star. In recent years, she has begun to take up singing. Her first public appearance as a singer occurred in 1985 in Seattle Washington. Although Ky Duyen is the only one in her family who is in show business, she claimed that there are others who have musical talents in her family, yet they chose not to pursue this career. Ky Duyen first learned to play the piano at the age of 5-8 years old. At the age of 15-18 she studied music and music theory. She also has two years of voice training.

As a recording artist, Ky Duyen first recorded with Tung Giang Studio in 1984. However, many people saw her for the first time when she first sang in one of Hollywood Night Video around 1993. She revealed that as a singer, she is inspired by those music that move the heart. As a listener, she enjoys Jazz, Vietnamese as well as foreign music.

When asked, is there a particular song that you are most proud of and why? Ky Duyen responded, "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong is among one of her many favorites because of its positive inspiration.

In her spare time, Ky Duyen likes to dance, acting, interior decorating She also enjoys reading, playing tennis, playing mahjong, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite food are any kind of "ma('m" and cafe su+~a dda'. Ky Duyen's likes to perform in Las Vegas the most, as it's close to home, and she can take her family for a mini-vacation so they can fun in the casinos while she works.

Some of her projects in the works are: Coming out with her first Solo CD, taping a video for Thuy Nga and appearing in concerts almost every weekend in many major cities in the US. She also plans to expand and be successful in her law practice.
