Odetari’s “NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER” tackles issues of self-centeredness and a lack of the capacity for intense feeling. The song’s lyrics imply that Odetari is battling addiction and has injured others as a result, for which he expresses regret.
The outro and bridge’s use of the phrase alludes to a tumultuous emotional state.
"Rage, love, lust, on fire"
The refrain is repeated frequently and draws attention to Odetari’s narcissistic traits and self-awareness of them.
"I’m so full of myself, I’m selfish"
The song’s middle section has a dialogue between two characters, one of whom appears to be emotionally incapable, which could be interpreted as a critique of Odetari’s own emotional limits. The complexity of addiction, self-centeredness, and emotional detachment appears to be the theme of the song as a whole.
On Odetari’s Tiktok, he responded to a comment on April 14th, 2023, discussing the significance of his song.
"the song makes me feel weird 😂"
Which Odetari responded to:
"The actual song was about me constantly being in battle with destructive habits and asking god/universe for forgiveness. I promise myself and a higher power to stop doing things I know I’m not supposed to but temptation easily takes over me. I constantly find my self in the same depressive cycle. The night I recorded this song, I broke my sobriety and felt very angry with myself. And fearful of the consequences of my own actions. (Rage, Love, Lust = Hell/Fire)"
