Biography
Omar The Seraph is a rising young artist, singer-songwriting, and producer hailing from the diverse borough of Queens, New York. He began songwriting and playing acoustic guitar at the age of 12, but never saw music as more than a hobby until January of 2021 when he sent his then acoustic song 20 Energy to friend, and now frequent collaborator VASSI for industry-level production. Music for Omar isn’t about streams, or fame, but rather a form of therapy necessary for his mental health, and a means to promote love, positivity, and psychedelia to a large amount of people. This pursuit inspired Omar to begin writing his collaborative album with VASSI dubbed ‘Symposium’ which released on February 11, 2022. Philosophically, the name Symposium refers to the platonic discussion of love wherein legendary philosopher Socrates and his companions discuss what they believe to be the highest form of love. Thus, ‘Symposium’ was written to embody that discussion, and covers the topic of love in its many dimensions, using several different genres of music to accomplish that goal. Aside from music, Omar is currently an undergraduate senior at Columbia University, and hopes to go on to have a career in cognitive neuroscience exploring the enigmas of consciousness and psychedelic states. Omar refuses to ever let others put him in a box, and embraces his beautiful weirdness unabashedly, and encourages others to do the same.
