Playing with fire will get you burned – and that's exactly what Ophir Drive wants you to do. With their new album “Before I Burn” arriving in May 2010, these Columbus, GA-based rockers plan to light your speakers on fire. Picture Guns N Roses, but replace Axl with Janis Joplin and Shakira and you've got the right idea. “Before I Burn” blends Sarah J's intense, soaring vocals, Jon's heavy guitars and Matt's expressive bass lines into a high-energy mix of original rock and blues.
After acquiring some awesome Sport Kilts, new Daisy Rock guitars, and a very un-rock-band-like tour vehicle (a Ford Windstar) in late 2009, Ophir Drive has been playing all around Columbus GA, Auburn, AL, and various cities in NC. Despite her small stature, you may find Sarah J wrestling in parking lots with musicians twice her size. Matt, in his extra-long kilt, is usually watching from a safe distance, while Jon and his Maker's Mark stay classy at the bar.
Jon and Sarah J teamed up in early 2009 with a shared passion for loud rock, expensive guitars, and smooth alcohol. They played their acoustics just long enough for Matt to follow them to an open mic with his bass sometime last summer. The duo picked him up, put the acoustics down, and have since been rocking the area nearly every weekend. Since August 2009, the trio has only had seven weekends without gigs and the majority of those were spent recording the album. Currently enjoying the services of three talented drummers – Robert, John, and Keith - the SESAC-affiliated band is booking regional shows, writing as often as possible, and looking forward to melting your face live.
