Following X's disappearance from music in the late '90s, Cervenka continued to work on solo projects, her new band The Knitters, and numerous performances and albums, including a collaborative effort with Lydia Lunch. In 2002, Cervenka, along with ex-Distillers members Kim Chi (bass, vocals) and drummer Mat Young, as well as Sam Soto and Exene's husband Jason Edge on guitars, released the Original Sinners' first self-titled LP on Nitro Records.
