Biography

In the mid 1990's, this Amsterdam-based band of L.A. expats toured extensively all over Western Europe, playing clubs and festivals, both small and large. They eventually released an album and a pair of singles on Roadrunner Records.

Once described by a reviewer as, "Neil Young meets Patti Smith, smoking a spliff with Dinosaur Jr.," POP was one of Melody Maker's Picks of the Year for 1993. That year they played their biggest co-billing for 35,000 people, at the Bevrijdingsdag festival in Haarlem NL, with headliner 2 Unlimited.

In 1994 they expanded their touring reach from The Netherlands to include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Belguim, Luxemburg and the UK.

In 1995 two of Painting Over Picasso's songs were performed on live television for an estimated audience of 4-million viewers, by the Amsterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. The nationally televised program, With A Little Help From My Friends, was an annual event which features music from pop acts in Holland, performed at the Paradiso in Amsterdam with a full orchestra backing the band's own vocalists.

Though they had a 75+ song repertoire, only 13 songs are known to exist in high-quality format, remastered by the band's bassist from the original Roadrunner studio recordings. They're available in mp3 format, along with lyrics at:
