Biography
The roots of "Panica" reach back to when Foeny and Gonzo already played some beats and riffs together in Gonzo’s cellar. The name "PANICA" came into life, as Gonzo - after a hard and wet night on the train to school - took a drink with a similar name, which got Foeny laughing. The two were looking for a long time after the right band members, that’s the reason why the first songs were only played with guitar and drums, like the "Song Without Bass", but this songs never found the way on a record or a demo tape.
As they finally found bassist René the band was founded in the end of November 1999. Because of the fact, that the musicians are friends and fun is the center of their "way of life", it’s easy to guess their preferred music style: Sk8punk, Melody core, Punk rock and how else you might call it. Not like other bands Panica played only own songs right from the beginning on and tried to present them in public as well as they could. At this point of time the label "Suspect Records" came into action for the first time and the three guys recorded a demo-CD there to own high quality material for the presentation of the band. Because of the big response in public on this CD and of the fact that the Panicas also stand live with heart and soul behind their music it was soon clear that a long player had to follow, again on "Suspect Records": - Sunshine On My Ass -, the debut-album of the band and their first attempt to get recognized, also by the world outside their home country. Most of its lyrics have issues like lifestyle, stories about girls and so on. But that doesn’t mean that the songs are simple or superficial, actually the opposite is the fact: the three musicians try to combine demanding words and witty asides with powerful, varying skate-punk.
In 2003 Foeny went one year to Vienna in order to complete an internship program and to finish college afterwards. That time Panica was pausing, since Foeny wasn’t able to come home for doing rehearsals very often. He never stopped writing songs for the band during that time.
Pene joined the Band in 2004 as a second guitar player. Introducing Pene into the Band turned out to be the perfect chance to figure out what Panica really does sound like and most important, does want to sound like. The guys are taking their time to write new songs, getting aware of the new possibilities and to take the band ahead.
