Biography
This trio's (The Crazy Hambones) stripped down line -up of electric blues harp, electric guitar and drums means it concentrates on the essentials, drawing inspiration from the vast legacy of legends such as Muddy Walters , Walter Horton , Little Walter and Sonny Terry. Their onstage chemistry and energy leaves you in no doubt that they want you to enjoy yourselves.
A native of Texas, singer and harmonica player Paul Orta recorded this blues album together with two bluesmen from Germany: Peter Krause (guitar) and Michael Maass (drums).
Originally Orta comes from Port Arthur / Texas (the hometown of Janis Joplin); first sensation he could attract as 1980 he, now living in Austin, the Harmonica Contest won the Kerrville Folk Festival. He became known through the work with the Kingpin and many other bands and artists like Blue with Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Pinetop Perkins, Eddie Taylor, Ted Harvey, Sunnyland Slim and others. Meanwhile Orta lives at times, in France.
The majority of cover versions "Cool Step" are rather less well known and submitted by blues greats such as Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson and others, five numbers Orta controls even at. Stylistically one moves between country-, Jump and Chicago blues, all without overdubs and played with virtuosity.
