Penrose is the name of at least 3 bands:
1. Penrose was an alternative rock/post-hardcore band from Barrington, Rhode Island, United States.
From their Myspace:
Hailing from Barrington, RI, Penrose is not your everyday band, although our task is simple: We like to rock, and attempt to bring power to our music through our instruments as well as our lyrics. This powerful 4 piece with guitars, bass, and drums, Penrose not only brings forth a huge sound, but also an energetic and powerful performance. Catch these guys in any show you can, and make sure to come say hi! And, as always, Rock on! PS: For booking or any other information, feel free to email PenroseRock@hotmail.com
We're influenced by more than this list, since more than one genre/band is in our CD players and influences our style/writing/sound/interests: Coheed And Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, Saves The Day, Death Cab For Cutie, The Stereo, Jimmy Eat World, Motion City Soundtrack, Piebald, Midtown, Fairweather, Letter Kills, Funeral For A Friend.

2. Penrose was a Philadelphia blues-rock band comprised of brothers Tom, Pat, and Dan Murphy. Their influences range from the Delta Blues of John Lee Hooker and R.L. Burnside through to garage rock of the 90′s and 00′s of Jack White and Dan Auerbach, with hints of experimental psychadelic rock of musicians like Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood. "Penrose is the epitome of hard rock, modern blues revival with an alternative twist and personal touch." (Sasha Patpatia, CMJ 2011 Spotlight). They released their debut album, Devil’s Grip, on December 21, 2010, followed by two packed release parties in both Philadelphia and NYC. The album can be streamed from www.penrose.bandcamp.com, along with a full live performance from NYC's The Bitter End and demos from their upcoming album, which they will begin recording this Spring with well-known Philadelphia producer Bill Moriarty (Man Man, Dr. Dog).
The boys have received considerable accolades from fans and press alike, both for their raucous live show and raw songwriting. They were honored as the Philadelphia Deli Magazine Band of the Month July 2010, and also awarded Readers Choice BEST EMERGING ARTIST of 2010. “The Brothers Murphy open up and say “arg” while stretching the blues to stadium-size disgust.” (Philadelphia City Paper).
3. Penrose (@penrosecult) is a heavy shoegaze-grunge band from the mind of Ivy Forest Traylor. Their influences range from an eclectic background of years of being an avid musician anywhere from Have a Nice Life to Minus the Bear without any breaks, even with hints of electronic music, specifically incorporating the likes of Dillinja, Alix Perez, and Lenzman "Penrose is the innerchild of an entity confused between Whirr and Aphex Twin on their iPod Shuffle" (Joe Reilly, Musically Meditated, 2021). They have been releasing singles sparingly over the past couple of years, hinting towards a larger release upcoming from Neon Bloodbath Records. Music from them can be streamed from www.penrosecult.bandcamp.com, along with Spotify and Apple Music, with more music on the horizon with an assortment of producers.
Traylor has received considerable accolades from fans and press alike, both for their deafening live show and emotional heartbreaking lyrics. They currently also play guitar for the band Sueños, whom have a more light, airy sound spectrum in the shoegaze space.
