Biography
Perry and The Travellers is a genuine southern rock group formed in late spring of 2004 in a little remote place called Hammarö of Sweden. The 4 original members Andy, Danny, Perry & Dallen have been making music since teenage years. As they say, "We've managed to get the mud off our boots, and the dust off our hats, and have fine tuned this band to play anywhere. Our attitude and lifestyle is what keeps the "south" in southern rock music alive in us. Our don't give a damn attitude is what lets us make this music that takes you back 30 years or more, to when that fine sound of Southern rock music exploded all over the world."
The band (Perry, Andy, Danny, Snake & Dave) were influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Credence Clearwater Revival. Although each band member has his own sets of roots in rock & southern rock music since before puberty, they all knew growing up that they would be making music for the rest of their lives.
The band has been told that their style of Southern Rock is good old-fashion ass-kicking, boot-stomping, bar music that brings back memories of the fabulous southern rock tunes of the 70’s. Since 2004, the band has played countless dates in clubs & festivals in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Holland, and Belgium; with a spot on the 2006 "Hallelujah Tour."
In the Spring of 2005 Perry and The Travellers released an EP titled "Max light" which was recorded at "Studio Cobra" in Stockholm. It was three songs which included the big hit "Streetlight." After being picked up by Swedish radio and receiving a good deal of airtime, the record got good reviews. This resulted in an EP that was originally to be used for promotional purposes being successfully sold in local record stores in Karlstad.
In early 2006, the band recorded a set of six songs in Åmål at "Dead End Production," and they recorded an additional three songs at "Dust Studios" in Karlstad, for the September, 2006 release of the album "Hard Lovin" on HGM records. In November 2007, Perry and The Travellers headed into the studio, threw up some tents, and slept in sleeping bags so they could begin work on the second masterpiece at "Leon Studios" outside of Karlstad. The first nine songs were recorded before the band took the summer off to write 5 more songs for the full length LP.
Snake is a musician of many talents. He joined the band January 8, 2008. His playing the keyboards, harmonica, slide guitar, and singing backup vocals was a great asset to the band. Dave joined the band in June of 2008. He plays the drums, he’s exudes confidence, and he has a compatibility with the other members of the band that brings a feeling that Perry and The Travellers is now complete, and ready for the world.
After spending several months in the rehearsal studio, the band moved camp back to the recording studio to finish the remaining songs for the new album titled, "Other Side of the Bridge" which was released June 17, 2009. After the album was completed, Perry and the other band members sadly had to say goodbye to their long-time friend and bass player, Danny. He will surely be missed by the band as well as fans. But, the band welcomed in Tim Flynth, the new bass player who somehow manages to take the music to yet another level.
If you like good old classic southern rock music with wicked harmony and beautiful melodies, and you feel that the popular music of today needs a little kick-in-the-ass, then tune in to Perry and The Travellers!
